And... Suddenly!
Woman of God, how are you?
It is amazing how God uses anything to speak to us and minister to our lives. As some of you already know, I have had a butterfly farm at my house. As part of the science class I had started the butterfly process with my students. We had 5 baby caterpillars in the classroom. Due to the COVID-19 and the closure, I had to take the caterpillars home. But it has been a wonderful process, which God has used to speak to me and I want to share with you what I have learned, very suitable for these difficult times.
The stages of the butterfly showed me several things:
1. The caterpillars: When babies, they looked a “cute”, but as they began to feed and grow, almost 10 times more than when I received them, they stopped being "cute". They looked grotesque and the children told me they were ugly and some of them were scared. I confess that I didn't like them one bit and I was afraid that they were going to get out of the cup. When I had to take them home, I was not very happy.
It is the same in our lives. Difficult situations or bad thoughts can grow, not only 10 times, but one feels that up to 100 times more than they started. They look "ugly", they frighten us ... Maybe this Coronavirus crisis, we think it continues to grow, that it will not be controlled. We do not see the time that it "contains" in its chrysalis, for us to feel a little peace.
2. The chrysalides: Now, finally! The "ugly" things are hanging from the lid, closed. How exciting! ... Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5 ... Well; Nothing is happening! When am I going to be able to see the beautiful butterflies come out? No one likes that wait.
How many times have we been in situations like this? Situations in which we think that nothing is happening. Situations in which we feel that we are paralyzed. This “confinement” makes us desperate… Moments when we think that God is doing nothing, that he does not hear our prayer.
3. The wonderful butterflies: AND… SUDDENLY! Literally, in less than 2 minutes, a beautiful, impressive butterfly comes out. However, she is struggling so hard to get out that we want to help her, but that is the worst mistake we can make. The butterfly must go through this process of "fighting" to become stronger.
When you see the beautiful butterfly, it was worth the wait, it was worth the process; process that must take place by itself, without trying to help God. God is Sovereign and He knows what He does, He knows what He allows, He knows the transformation that will take place in us throughout the process.
Dear sister and friend, I know that these can be moments of uncertainty, waiting, anxiety and even fear ... But one thing I do know, that, just as God is with the butterfly during the WHOLE PROCESS, He is with you. He has not and will not leave you. You may feel surrounded by ugly caterpillars, or you may feel locked in a chrysalis ... but you will be transformed!!! Transformed into a woman of more faith, into a warrior of God, into a woman who can minister the love of God to others.
Prayer: Lord, thank you because in the middle of all my processes You are with me. Thank you because everything you allow in my life is for my growth and transformation. Let me focus on the beautiful things in life and not on the "ugly" things around me. Amen
