Everything That I Am, Praise the Lord
Greetings Dear Woman:
How great it is to be connected in one way or another: Hangouts, Facebook Live, devotionals like these, the WhatsApp Woman of Favor chat, etc. In the past few days, some of us have mentioned the importance of keeping the right thoughts; keep thinking about what the Word of God says.
David said in Psalms 103:1-2 “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and FORGET not all his benefits.”
How easy it is to FORGET the good things! But nevertheless; how difficult it is to FORGET the bad ones! Often, we focus on the trials we are going through, the situations we see around us, but can we see what we might learn from them in the same way? Can we focus what God teaches us about His character while we walk through those "deserts"? In Psalm 103, David reminds himself not to FORGET any of God's benefits. When we bless the Lord for all His benefits, we boast in the Lord and His attributes, and exalt Him for His goodness; we are focusing on Him instead of focusing on our problems. However, how easy it is to let problems take over our thoughts to the point of FORGETTING how great God is!
Constantly, there is a struggle between the flesh and the spirit, between doubt and faith. We know what God’s word says, we know what God is able to do, and we still have a hard time believing that He will intervene in our situation; we still question whether God is really good. David had to remind himself that God is good and deserves all our gratefulness and our praise. In this Psalm David writes 20 reasons why praise our great Lord:
1. He forgives all our sins
2. He heals all our diseases.
3. He redeems us from death.
4. He crowns us with love.
5. He crowns us with mercies.
6. He fills our lives with good things.
7. He renews our strength as the eagle’s.
8. The Lord gives righteousness and does justice to those who are treated unfairly.
9. He is compassionate.
10. He is merciful.
11 He is slow to become angry.
12 He is full of endless love.
13 God does not reprove of us all the time or will remain angry with us forever.
14. He does not punish us for all our sins nor treats us with the severity that we deserve.
15. His love is inexhaustible toward those who fear Him.
16. He sent our sins far from us.
17. God is a father to us.
18. He knows our weaknesses.
19. No matter the situations or circumstances His love endures forever.
20. His salvation extends to us, His children.
Dear woman, I understand that these days our eyes can turn away from Jesus. We can fall into fear and anxiety, which leads to physical, emotional and spiritual exhaustion. Sometimes we want to be the "Wonder Woman" of our family. But rest in his love and remember who your Father is. When you're facing moments of doubt, darkness, pain, uncertainty, fear... remember all these attributes of our God. When you're struggling between the flesh and the spirit, whether to believe or not to believe; if worship Him or not to worship Him; just surrender to His presence and praise Him for all that He is. Tell your soul as David said to his: BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL AND FORGET NOT ALL HIS BENEFITS!
Pray: My beloved Father, I praise You and bless You for how great and good You are. Forgive me for focusing on life situations and not on Your benefits. Help me always to remember Your love and help.
Amen
I SHARE WITH YOU THIS SONG, SO THAT YOU TAKE A FEW MINUTES AND PRAISES THE LORD, ONLY FOR WHAT HE IS AND NOT FOR WHAT HE CAN GIVE US:
