Life's Pause is a Call to Pursue God

I like to think of our lives as on a timeline, visually.  You know, the kind you see in history books explaining a series of events.   We live and see only a portion of that line.  You may or may not remember most of the things from your childhood.  Your vision or grasp of your timeline is somewhat limited but all of it has shaped you.  Consider this though…God sees the whole thing.  He sees our life’s timeline from the moment we were conceived right through the end of our time here on earth.

God knew this “blip” in time would occur in your life, our lives, my life.  So, what are we to do with it?  We are right now in a “life pause”.  A pause from what we are so used to doing every day.  A pause from being even God’s hands and feet in the daily outside world we go to.  We may be asking God some very tough questions.  1. Why?  2. What can I do?  3. How will this affect us in the long run?  I do not have the answers like the majority of my time in my life.  I have had to come to terms with I do not need all the answers when I have Christ.  He holds the timeline.  I trust in His timing, love, promises and put my faith in Him.

Here is what I believe to be the purpose for my life’s pause right now.  I believe we are called to pray and humble ourselves as God’s people.   I believe we are to pursue His presence daily.  I believe we are called to prepare to live a life of purpose for God.

Let’s take this time to reflect.  Let’s take this time to pray, pursue, and prepare to live life out for God’s purpose.

Here are some Bible verses to guide your prayers and pursuit of God this week.  Commit some to memory, write them down, personalize them to your circumstance and most importantly spend some time in God’s presence.

Pursue righteousness - Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 2 Timothy 2:22.

Pursue peace - Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.  John 14:27

Pursue joy - Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!  Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.  Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.   Psalm 100:1-3

Pursue God - Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.  Psalm 51:11

Pursue love – “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” This is the first and great commandment. ... Mathew 22:37-29

Pursue purpose - And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.  Romans 8:28

Pursue prayer - Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Pursue a pure heart - Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith. 1 Timothy 1:5

Pray:  Dear Heavenly Father,  First and foremost, thank you for your word.  Thank you for speaking to our hearts through your word.   Thank you for allowing us to learn, providing us wisdom and growing our faith through your word.  Open my eyes and ears.  Lead me to new pursuit of you.  I want to know you more, love you more and live for you more.  I want to spend this time in your presence, praying and listening for your purpose in my life.  Amen.
